Olpers Uht Milk Essay Example for Free

Olpers Uht Milk EssayFirst introducing about milk producing capacity in Pakistan. With an estimated 33 Billions Liters of annual milk achievement from 50 million animals managed by approximately 8 million farming households, according to latest statistics Pakistan is the 4th largest milk producing country in the world. It has a livestock and land sector contri onlying over 10% to the GDP, and a milk delivery that in value terms is 27. 7% of the tot up agriculture sector. It is an untapped market, pass judgment to grow an spargon 3 billion liters in the next few years at a harvest-time rate faster than nigh sectors. Undeniably, a sector with such credentials can bring about not just a radical change but also a dairy farm revolution in the country. The annual milk production of 33. 6 billion liters in Pakistan is distributed between a 71. 1% get by for the rural economy and a much smaller urban share of 29%. Only 3% of the total production of milk is processed and market ed through formal channels. For the different 97%, a multi-layered distribution system of middlemen has evolved to supply milk. The contribution of the formal sector processed milk to real GDP in Pakistan is 0.43% in 2004-05. Despite only a small percentage (3%) of milk macrocosm processed, the (UHT) market is growing at a steady rate of 20% a year. Presently 97% of raw milk produced in the rural economy is not linked to the market mechanism because of a number of reasons (defined ahead in this paper). Due to this reason, the dairy sector in the rural economy is not making a significant impact in the National economy in accordance with its potential and also with the quantity of milk, which is available. The White Revolution is targeted to achieve an annual production of 40 billion liters of milk by 2015 it aims to create an additive 3 million jobs in the formal economy and provide an estimated 350 million rupees per solar day in cash flow to farmers in the sector. The Dairy Visi on boulder clay 2015 . Given success of the programs discussed in this paper, what might the dairy industry cipher wish well in the year 2015. The formal sector to be 40% of the total dairy industry.Low cost but good quality pasteurized milk to be available in cities and towns forecasting for 70% of Pakistans population. Pakistans dairy industry meets the needs of consumers, thus minimizing imports. The range of goods offered to consumers is as wide as in say the markets of the Gulf. The well being of farmers throughout Pakistan is enhanced, and dairying is hold to be a profitable enterprise. Dairying get out reserve lifted millions of farmers above subsistence levels of activity. A thriving commercial dairy farming sector will be in place.Well-regarded Research Institutes will be active in their chosen fields, with a focus on meeting the needs of farmers. Quality of nearly sectors of the industry will be such that exports are viable. UHT milk was invented in the 1960s, and b ecame generally available for consumption in the 1970s. UHT milk has a typical ledge life of six to nine months, until opened. It can be contrasted with HTST pasteurization (high temperature/short time), in which the milk is heated to 72C (161. 6F) for at least(prenominal) 15 seconds UHT MILK.UHT milk is a sanitary and veterinary controlled milk which is subjected to special thermal treatment (ultra-pasteurisation or immoderate High Temperature) which destroys germs and preserves vitamins and nutrients. In the absence seizure of bacteria activity and with the pre-sterilisation of the furtherance, the milk becomes less perishable through ultra-pasteurisation, the validity period of milk is prolonged without adding preservatives. The temperatures lies beyond the boiling point (135 150 C) but the boiling time is very short 2-4 seconds). This very short stage of heating and cooling destroys bacteria and microorganisms and ensures the preservation of vitamins and proteins, unlike the normal boiling of milk, which doesnt destroy all germs and bacteria, instead destroying its nutritional value. The validity period varies between 3-6 months, depending on the quality of the raw milk collected from farms (deriving from hygiene during milking alongside discussion and storing conditions until the moment of reception in the factory). After unsealing the turning point, UHT milk need to be kept refrigerated and consumed within the next 3 days. HISTORY OF UHT MILK The uninspired advancement implies that both conveyaging and picking environment be sterilised thus preventing all recontamination of the food after being purified through thermal treatment. Further more, if we lecturing about UHT milk, we must know that a multilayer cardboard packaging is used, which also contains an aluminum foil in the middle, captured between the inner layers of cardboard and polyethylene. The cardboard box protects the milk from contact with easy and oxygen, two factors that contribut e to vitamin degradation. Vitamin B2 in milk exposed to light for 12 hours for example in a transparent recipient, degrades up to 35%. Aseptic technology is based on the invention of the Swedish company Tetra Pak, which created the first aseptic packaging in 1961. This packaging allows storing milk or other perishable liquids for a period of 3 6 months, without adding preservatives or refrigerating the product.By forming a barrier and impeding oxygen from penetrating (the packaging consists of multiple cardboard, aluminum and polyethylene layers for the food industry) and utilize a special technique to sterilise the packaging, aseptic technology ensures the protection of food against environmental aggressions. The international Institute for Food Technologies declared the technology of aseptic processing to be the most important innovation of the 20th century in the industry. Tetra Pak packaging can consist only of the cardboard and polyethylene layer (both on the outside and on the inside), in which case it is used for pasteurised milk. For UHT milk other(prenominal) special packaging material is used, which contains aluminum foil in the middle. Thus the packaging maintains the contents and the milk properties intact for the whole validity period of the product, because it impedes germs and light from penetrating the package (it is a known fact that light diminishes nutritional value of milk) Louis Pasteur already carried out villagers and improve their socio-economic status by experiments on sterilization of milk in bottles, but it was utilizing the agricultural raw materials. The solution is to not until around 1960, when both aseptic processing and link of know edge, skills and investments into the villages, aseptic filling technologies became commercially not only suffering appropriate technology in subsistence available, that the modern development of UHT processes level, but giving upstart approach in literal manner so started. UHT-treated milk an d other UHT-treated liquid that large value addition even within the check food products are now legitimate worldwide, but it has not investment is affordable by them at villages themselves.always been like that. The first UHT plant operated on the Milk production began 6000 years ago or even principle of direct steam injection. Compared with the inearlier. Practically everywhere on earth, man started container sterilization plants, the smart(a) UHT plants soon domesticating animals. Milk production is the efficient crop to him deliver a superior product with c olour and nutritional and will help to improve their income. It is possible determine practically unchanged. ABOUT PAKISTAN In Pakistan, modern milk processing in the dairy sector started in early 1960s, and by mid-1970s 23 milk pasteurization and sterilization plants were delineate up. With one exception, all of them are closed due to low consumer acceptance, the short shelf-life of the product and lack of trained manpower. The first UHT plant was set up in Pakistan in 1977. The success of this plant attracted many other investors also and during 1983-87, 20 new plants were set up. In the current situation, UHT capacity in the dairy industry is more than the demand for the product. Existing plants are operating below capacity and growth in demand is not in all probability to keep pace with the demand for relatively high-priced UHT milk. Martin Luther King Jr.s Letter from Birmingham Jail Essay Example for Free

Martin Luther King Jr.s Letter from Birmingham Jail EssayMartin Luther King Jr.s revealing, Letter from Birmingham Jail, delves into the segregation, injustice and violence of Birmingham, Alabama, probably the most thoroughly segregated urban center in the United States(Inquiry, p.391, paragraph 6) In response to criticism from eight clergymen of Birmingham, King details the process of preparation for the nonviolent protest that took place in Birmingham. Imprisoned for protesting without a license, Dr. Kings words continue to reach far beyond the bars of his prison in his letter from Birmingham jail. Martin Luther King addresses the concerns and criticisms of his fellow clergymen, explaining why the African-American population of our nation cannot always be expected to wait for a more appropriate time to voice their concerns. Justice too long decelerate is justice denied.(Inquiry, p. 393, paragraph 13)Dr. Kings wisdom is a soundly-known and well-cherished part of American hist ory. Reading his words have cemented my admiration for his methods and his ideas. In Letter from Birmingham Jail he exposes the hypocrisy of the South and expresses his willingness to break an unjust law to pave the way for a just one. In case peacefully going to jail for his protests isnt a loud enough demonstration, his letter, specifically addressed to eight fellow clergymen but meant for the nation, gets the message across.Reading this letter has made me wonder how an eloquent, charismatic and just humanness such as Martin Luther King could be criticized, imprisoned and eventually assassinated. I question whoever cannot see the reason in Dr. Kings words. The issues of prejudice and segregation have been well worn since Martin Luther Kings time, but his words still hold passion and wisdom. His work on these issues was ground breaking, and I doubt our country would be as it is at once if Dr. King had never spoken out in a time of injustice and inequality.

Risk and Crisis Management

Risk and Crisis ManagementJAMES WALKERINTRODUCTIONRisk and Crisis Management cut across with threats to government activitys. The organizations ebb threats by applying bear offment programs. Risk Management deals with threats prior to the event occurring while crisis counseling deals with threats when it unfolds or after the event occurs. Crisis examples would be natural occurrences, faulty equipment, mankind error, conflicts, intentional efforts, and imperfect leaderships. (Department of Homeland warrantor, 2009) (Shrivastava and Miglani, 1988)For this assignment, it will discuss following the difference between risk and crisis counselling and the role of the subject Response Framework (NRF) and the commonwealthal Incident Management System (NIMS) plays, do I consider crisis watchfulness a part of risk management, and describe the possible types of crisis faced by my organization and which is important to be prepared for and why.RISK AND CRISIS MANAGEMENTThe definitions of Risk and Crisis Management do vary, just now generally the two deal with how organizations plan, prepare, and mitigate. Crisis Management is processes that are allocated to manage unexpected incidents that threat organizations, operations, and individual or group of people. (Australian Government, 2010) A crisis does happen without warnings and it is utmost important that plans are in place to be able to make out quickly (reactive) such actions to remedy situations or decrease the impact of a crisis to reestablish normality. Risk Management is a continuous process which threats are emphatic and solutions are in place to mitigate or avoid the risks (proactive). No matter how well prepared the procedures are for risk management, a requirement for each organizations or groups need to commence a crisis management plan in place. (Australian Government, 2010)The NRFs role to crisis and risk management is providing the guidance for the Nation to all solutions to occurrences and it i s created upon scalable, flexible, and adaptable organize structures to associate roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, it gives the authorities and best customs for managing incidents or occurrences (Policy for Crisis Management). (Department of Homeland Security, 2009, 2013, and 2015) For NRF to support the role of crisis and risk management, it is comprised of core documents, the Emergency suffer Functions (ESF), Support and Incident Annexes, and spouse Guides. The core documents discuss the rejoinders, roles, and responsibilities for our nation to include response actions, organizations, and planning requirements. (Department of Homeland Security, 2009, 2013, and 2015) The ESF is the resources and abilities from Federal and State that are functional areas that are needed for a response such as Transportation, Law Enforcements, Mass Care, and Firefighting to name a few. Support Annexes are the essential support aspects that are common to occurrences or incidents such as Fin ancial Management and Coordination from private sectors. The Incident Annexes are the aspects how to respond to incident categories such as Biological, Nuclear, Radiological, Cyber, and Mass Evacuation. Lastly, the Partner Guides give the references to discuss the key roles and actions for Local, Tribal, State, Federal, and Private-Sector response teams. (Department of Homeland Security, 2009, 2013, and 2015)The NIMS works hand in hand with the NRF. NIMS role in crisis and risk management is to give the guidance for command and management structures of incidents to organizations or people. It provides the organized and proactive tactics at all levels of governments to include private sectors to work efficiently to prevent, protect, respond, recover, and mitigate incidents or occurrences no matter the cause, location, size, and the complexity. (Department of Homeland Security, 2008 and 2009) (FEMA, 2013 and 2016)The question to have in mind about is crisis management a part of ris k management. A good risk management process minimizes loss when occurrences arise. A good crisis management is essential, but it should not be replaced for risk management processes. Regardless having a robust risk management process, occurrences or crisis will happen and cannot be predicted. The preparation to deal with and act immediately is essential when it comes to the two being a part of each other (plan, prepare, and mitigate). (Department of Homeland Security, 2009) (FEMA, 2013) (James and James, 2008) A good structure for risk and crisis management process maximizes the ability to act and minimizes losses. Crisis and Risk Management would discipline a broader context of management for identifying, assessing, sagaciousness, and coping with the occurrences. Additionally, they would influence the preventing, alleviating, and overcoming different types of crisis. In the end, risk management assesses the threat levels and allows for ways to avoid the potential threats. Crisis Management deals with threats prior, during, and after the occurrence. (Australian Government, 2010) (Department of Homeland Security, 2009) (FEMA, 2013)TYPES OF CRISIS IN MY ORGANIZATIONCrises in telecommunication organizations arise all the time. Telecommunications have quartette threats associated such as compliance, operational, strategic, and financial threats. Compliance deals with the laws, regulations and corporate governance. Lastly, Financial is the dissymmetry to keep up with technology, fixing hardware failures, updates on software and have the proper training for the employees. (EY, 2014) (MSG, 2017) The threats have crisiss that are underlined. The number one crisis is the new roles of involving sedulousness ecosystems. The realization and understanding the importance of the new gro wth opportunities, customer satisfaction, and competitors to keep up with technology is a big issue and it is the driver in todays digital world (new technologies). The Compliance threat has crisiss traffic with controlling new structures and essentials in privacy and credentials. Additionally, the mentioned would be the second importance in a telecommunication organization. The allegiance with policy and security is not regulated to protect our data. It is the reason we have the breaches in our ecosystems. The crises in Strategic threats have customer satisfaction issues, new work available, and simplicity and flexibility to include adopting new innovation methods to improve the networks (ecosystems). The crises in fina ncial is continuously going to be dealing with competitors with new technologies to improve the motley network landscape for the diverse networks. (EY, 2014) (MSG, 2017)CONCLUSIONRisk and Crisis Management deals with threats to organizations. The organizations mitigate threats by applying management programs. Risk Management deals with threats prior to the event occurring while crisis management deals with threats when it unfolds or after the event occurs. Examining The Accuracy Of Plymouth Plantation Religion Essay

Examining The Accuracy Of Plymouth Plantation Religion EssayBradfords Plymouth Plantation, contains records of the Pilgrims settlement in the new-fangled World. This document represents the history of one of the first colonies in natural England that founded our countries religion, culture, and history. Some historians wonder if Bradfords documentation of the Plymouth settlement is accurate. Even though Bradfords personal views and bias are evident through and throughout the transportation system there is still a lot of factual evidence that would be lost with out this manuscript. Bradford has been an inspirational writer to many, such as Cotton Mather, William Hubbard, Thomas Prince, and Thomas Hutchinson.Of Plymouth Plantation, is separated into two books dating from 1620 to 1650. Bradford, apparently wrote the first book in 1630 (Shuffleton), and goes into detail of the Separatist movement. The main points of the book include the Separatists afraid of religious persecution, fl eeing from England to Holland, settling in Leiden, their sweep on the Mayflower, and their experiences in New England. Bradford orders his material not only chronologically but teleologically, into chapters that are organized topically as well as in terms of sequences of events, and he indicates in numerous ways that his history is plotted and moving toward a particular outcome (Read). The way in which Bradford wrote this book is wherefore it has been so influential. It is easy to follow and a timeline is evident throughout. He goes into detail on instances that he finds important. For example, in what he called the First Encounter, an Indian attack occurred and he went into meticulous detail of how the Indians looked, sounded, and how they interacted with the pilgrims. But about midnight they heard hideous and great crythey concluded it was a company of wolves or such like stupid beasts (Perkins 56). This textbook gives insight to how the Indians responded to the Pilgrims invas ion. The second book was written between 1646 and 1650, and is a form of annals dating from 1630 to 1650, which tells of the Pilgrims day to day life. His use of annals turn up accurate when contrastd to colony records that would have been available to him at that time. Bradford writes most of history out of nostalgia (Wenska). This means that he has a yearning for the past and uses bible verses to compare to whats happening in the colony. This is seen when Bradford compares the Plymouth settlers to the Israelites of the old testament, when their time of wandering is over, spiritual principles are settled, and now the Pilgrims must face the spiritual uncertainties of history as they strive to get their own Canaan (Shuffleton). In the bible, the Israelites were deitys chosen people, and God granted them the power to dominate Canaan. E realthing was made abundant to them, until they started to sin. Once they started to defy Gods word, God took away the heritage he had given them. B radford says this in hopes that his Separatists skunk overcome their sinful nature and remain faithful to God, and in return keep New England, the land God has granted them. His own personal beliefs and views were definitely evident throughout the text. He regarded himself as an instrument of God (Perkins 49). He believed that God helped people overcome obstacles through faith, but they cried unto the Lord and he heard their voice and looked on their adversity (Shuffleton). On the Mayflower there was a young man who thought extremely of himself and cursed the sick. But it pleased God before they came half seas over, to smite this young man with a grievous disease, of which he died in a horrific manner, and so was himself the first that was thrown overboard. Thus his curses light on his own head, and it was an astonishment to all his fellows for they noted it to be the just hand of God upon him (Perkins 51). This text shows Bradfords belief that God has a hand in everything was sha red by the Separatists. In his description of Plymouth, there were two rather sharply divided groupsthe saints, or members of the Separatist church, and the strangers, or Non-separatists Obviously Bradford held the saints in much higher esteem then he did the strangers, who were often disruptive of the peace of the colony (Westbrook). His favoritism can also be seen when he omits most of the facts concerning incidents when the Separatists are being disloyal to God. For example when they fight amongst themselves in Amsterdam, or slaughter the Indians at Wessagusset. But, in Plymouth in 1642, when there were outbreaks of burglary, adultery, and fornification (Westbrook), he didnt seize to leave out any details of their wickedness. After Bradford discusses the outbreak of flagrant sin he ends his narrative with the headings, Anno 1647, and Anno 1648, leaving them blank. shot Gays says, Bradford ends his history in silence (Shuffleton). One can also tell hes partial to the Separatists by his depictions of characters. He differentiates between admiral characters who, are members of the Separatist sheepfold and the despicable ones, who are either unchurched or have Anglican sympathies (Westbrook). When he speaks of William Brewster whom he admires and considers a father figure, he speaks only of his strengths. When speaking of someone he dislikes he explains their weaknesses, and why they are not trustworthy. His tendency seems to be toward caricature and ridicule in depicting persons whom he disliked, such as Lyford, Weston, Thomas Morton, and Oldham (Westbrook). some historians have apply Plymouth Plantation as a resource in writing their books, due to the accuracy and detailed history of the early settlement. This entire passage has been treated as an early interpretation of the American landscape and an illustration of English preconceptions about that landscape as wilderness (Read). Nathaniel Morton, Bradfords nephew, had copied large parts from Plymouth Pla ntation and was considered very important when his uncles original works had been lost. Increase Mather used it as a source for his account of Indian Wars. Increases son, Cotton, later used it for his own history of the Plymouth Colony. William Hubbard used it in his writing of the General History of New England from the Discovery to MDCLXXX. Thomas Prince quoted and paraphrased many passages in his Chronological History of New England in the form annals in 1736. It has been influential because of how Bradford handled time relationships, characterized individuals and groups, and focused on events that he thought were important. Bradford helped to demonstrate the workings of divine providence for the edification of future generations (Gould). This document has protected past history that would have otherwise been lost. The years since these early literary historians wrote has neither dulled nor lessened our admiration for Bradford as either historian or man of letters (Wenska). It w ill continue to contribute to the American culture for generations to come.Bradfords Of Plymouth Plantation can not be classified as objective history, because he incorporated too much of his own personal beliefs and values. Instead it can be used as a history book for the foundation of New England. Early authors saw its importance and incorporated it into their own writings. It has helped shape our differing religions, culture, and literature that can be found in todays era.

British Airways Internal And External Environment

British Air sorts Internal And External EnvironmentBritish Airs has chosen as its free-enterprise(a) strategy to be center on una dealiated. This is supported by the fact that since the mid 1980s the come with determined that they needed a more(prenominal) than dynamic, client- counseled and service operate culture. Furthermore, the comp whatso of all time stated in its 2008/2009 annual report that its object lens is to be a high-performing, market place-focused, world(prenominal) pension air passage. Among its objectives, it regards to be the worlds leading(a) global grant airway be the skyway of quality for long dredge subvention customers and deliver an outstanding service for customers at every touch point. Moreover, in order to analyse if the company is backup its strategy, it is important to analyse its value chain and how the company set up creates value to its customers. In its operation, B.A is outsourcing some activities, for example catering, therefore they stooge focus on their tenderness avocation, and likewise they weed save costs with employees and avoid problems with strike. (Guys on this point, reviewing the case study, that the franchises do non not contribute to support their strategy of differentiation). B.A has also created a subsidiary OpenSkies to be more warlike in the transatlantic routes, due to the fact of being a unexampled company, they can hire newfound employees with different salaries and benefits from B.A.B.A has also created the goal 5 which is very modern and with a lot of technology, therefore they can master costs mainly with employees and it also a smashed to reduce the problem of possible strikes. This terminal does not depend too much on employees force. Furthermore it helped the company to improve its efficiency and offer better(p) service. On services, the company has invested to deliver the goods its objective of serving outstanding services. Some examples ar a Club World Cabin, which offers more comfort and privacy, on each(prenominal) its Boeing 747 and on half of its Boeing 777 Two-by-Two seat configuration in its Club Europe Galleries lounges at terminal 5 and 3 in Heathrow, Milan, Vancouver and Johanesburg Check in from bustling and PDA In escape entertainment system. Its Human Resources activities can represent a critical aspect from its value chain. In cardinal hand, the company has invested in world-class hospitality and customer service training (annual report) on the former(a) hand to support its objective of reducing costs, the company has progressively cut the subprogram of employees and their benefits (such as reduction on their pensions), which has generated a turbulent traffichip with its employees, mainly with the trade unions. As an example, due to the 5000 jobs cut in its backroom operation, the cabin crew went on strike in August 1997.They argon reducing the pensions, they ar hiring new employees with different salaries which create emp loyees conflicts, affect motivation and they give strikes.Firm Infra structure They changed the counselling style in the mid 1980 to be more flexible. However, more recently they are becoming more toughened due to the belligerent. They are trying to give care the efficiency of the employees with the clocking-in system they are also trying to reduce absenteeism. Apart from this, employees fell bulled. Therefore, it seems to be more autocratic. We can also support this with Terminal 5, they dear decided to start the operation but employees were not prepared.Strategy Sustainable it is not sustainableThe company is focusing on reduce costs and maximize improvements to deliver the results expected by the shareholders. Therefore this does not support the strategy.Evaluation of StrategyPrimary evaluation index is performance if it has grown and if it has been profitableHowever Rumelt indicates three questions to evaluate depth the strategy, to appraise more fundamental factors and trends which will guide the company for successAre the objectives leave? Are the major policies and procedures appropriate?Do the results obtained confirm or refute critical assumptions on which the strategy rests? The strategy needs to be consistent (goals and policies) amenable (it needs to represent an adaptive response to the external purlieu and critical changes) it needs to create competitive advantage and it needs to be feasible harmonise to resources. We have set our sights on being the worlds leading global premium airline. We have five key goals. They are toBe the airline of choice for longhaul premium customersDeliver an outstanding service for customers at every touch pointGrow our presence in key global cit iesBuild on our leading position in London andMeet our customers needs and improve margins through and through new revenue streams. Background and IntroductionBritish airways were founded as aircraft transport and incite (ATT) in 1916, and soon on after the World War I the first international scheduling air service were launched amid London and Paris. 1939 its confidential information competitor were Imperial Airways and the government nationalized two company from British Overseas Airways (BOAC). The BOAC were operation just in Long Haul flight and for short haul an some otherwise(a) new company were operation, British European Airways (BEA). In 1974 after the BOAC has a great knowledge about long Haul Flight (US, Japan, and so on) and BEA has a great knowledge about short haul flight the both companies merger, became the British Airwyas. (DataMonitor, 2009).Business agreement between BA AA Iberia 2008British Airways is one of the worlds leading scheduling premium internati onal airlines, during FY2009 British Airways earned 8 billion in revenue, down 11% on the last year. Passengers represent 87% of the revenue, 7% Cargo and 6% form other activities, (annual report BA, 09). With 245 aircraft makes one of the crush fleet services in actuality. British airways serve more than ccc destinations worldwide. The company carried more than 33 million passengers and 777,000 tonnes of cargos destinations throughout the work during fiscal year 2009. British airways also provides another types of services to other airlines including cargo treatment at airports, airframe maintenance, computer and communication services and consultancy services. (datamonitor, 2009).British airways has a objective to be the biggest airline company in the world, and the airline industry is consolidating at an accelerating pace. In order to do this, merger with Iberia and plan to join handicraft with American Airlines are examples of the era for international aviation. But these d eals are ever in focus on benefit its costumer. (Annual Report BA, 2009)British Airways during March 2009 launched a low-cost airfare sale with price starting to $478 between London to New York and also build its popular Europe for Free that is a program offering low-cost fares and two free hotel nights in selfsame(prenominal) seven selected cities on the Europe continent, (datamonitor) appendix 01 -Timeline British AirwaysMacro environment Analysis accord to Lancaster (2008) companies are inserted in a macro environment composed by different factors or forces which have an impact on their operations. Some of these factors are closer to the company such as suppliers, intermediaries, distributors and so on, which he denominate proximate macro environment. There other factors have a wider prospect, such as legal, cultural, economic, so on, but can also impact companies results.Political FactorsAlmost every aspect of running an airline is governed or influenced by tight regulative controls. This varies from the routes companies can fly, the business partners they can cooperate with, the airport slots they can use, the fares they set and the infrastructure costs they pay. Strict rules also govern safety and security and the management of their environmental impact. (XXXXX)Terrorism is another political problem which affects companies, one example are the attacks which occurred in the U.S in 2001, which reduce the demand for flights and also demanded from companies more investments on security measurements and policies to rebuild consumers confidence. (XXXX)Economic FactorsAirline companies were direct affect by economic recession when in 2008 were the bruise grow has ever faced in especially US and Europe. The global recession has affect in both cases passenger and business pot in air travel. This aggravated its pension deficit and it also impacted its demand because many companies are trying to reduce the costs with travelling instead they are trying to use communication technology as teleconferencing. Although the price oil has fallen from 2008 were the oil price was $147 a barrel. (Key data) supplement 2 UK residents visits overseas by air by Country visited (000)Currency changes are another problem. For BA the pound weakens impacted its costs due to many of them occur in long horse or euro. another(prenominal) factors which can impact either B.A costs base or profits are oil prices fluctuations and ontogenesis unemployment which impact consumer confidence.Social Factors senescence fastest increase in the oldest oldPopulation by age, UK, 1984, 2009 and 2034The graphic above describe how the UK trend populations are going, over the last 25 year the people aged 65 has increased from 15% in 1984 to 16% in 2009, increase of 1.7% million people, in other words, UK population is ageing. On the same period the young population has decreased from 21% to 19%.http//www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=949Analysis this graph, it is po ssible to understand that people are focus on their career and believably having just one children or in some case no one, and the consequence is young population decrease and old population increase. British Airways can restoration advantage of this situation because people in this age may want to enjoy the live travelling, visit some friends and so on, and British Airways can bring this customer to it, and this type of customer possibly will pay to better services and better company, and business class for this customer are the best option to British Airways introducing them.Appendix 3 Unemployment rateAccording to graph above, the UK Unemployment rate despite is getting a small better still so high, and this factor impact direct on British Airways, because whist people have no job it is difficult to this people travel by plane. On the other hand, people aged 16 to 54 had has been a significant increase since 2009, and may can bring more customer to British Airways.http//www.st atistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=12Technological FactorsPrice comparison using the internetOnline booking services and check-inIt is good because young peolpe prefer to used, but old people dont like this new techonolgiesThe technology has created a lot of benefits for consumers. In the case of airline industry, now they can use comparison websites, which has contributed for their bargaining power On the other hand, online booking beside facilitating customers, companies do not need to pay to agencies anymore (intermediaries). Furthermore, British Airways can also reduce the number of employees because it is possible to use more machines than people and BA improved its efficiency, as an example the clocking-in system implemented by BA to control employees hours, and It also creates new ways of communicating with customers. (XXXXX)Environment Factors one and only(a) of the British Airway strategic is reduce issue that affect the environment, in order to this, British Airways chose t o engage in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) to help achieve the company strategic, CSR also can help British Airways to identify risks to health, safety and environment, this strategic also can attract more investors and grow the company. CSR CASE STUDYAccording to Convention for Climate Change and the Kyoto protocol, one big issue to solve is the carbon liberation. And airlines companies have a high contribution in carbon emission. So, in response to this British airway decided to develop a program to solve this issue and the first target was discharge efficiency to reduce in 30% between 1990 from 2010. Doing this action the saving represents 50m tonnes of carbon diode (CO2). The British airway has great reduction in carbon emission that the carbon emission saved can then be sold for other companies, which needs to go above its carbon emission. CSR CASE STUDYFurthermore, another crusial point to British Airways is the noise pollution, to minimize this issue the company is i nventing in quieter aircrafts and changing the way that its fly, the target to reduce the average noise per flight is around 15% by 2015. The people who living near to Heathrow are the people more affect with the noise but British Airways reduced around 30% the noise between 2008 and 2009. (annual report BA, 2009).Natural disasters and weather conditions can impact the operations. These issues can impact on costs and consequently the companys profit. Volcano ashesLegal FactorsDuring March 2010 British airways hail a decline in passage number the decline was so high that was compared with the month after September 11 terrorist attacks. It was the worst march in more than a decade for passenger numbers, and the British airways strategic were cuts some its operational capacity. But the consequence was worst it. Because became a Cabin-Crew Walkouts that generate around 45m departure to British Airways. When more than 47% of the flights were cancel in Heathrow airport. On the other han d, during the same conviction Ryanair Reported that the passenger number has increased 13%. superstar of the reasons from that is probably the no-frills. (financial Times, 2010)Beside all the legislation which reflects the heavy regulatory control governments have over airline industry, companies are also impacted by employment relations laws and recognition of trade unions. In the case of BA this has represented a lot of problems due to the strikes conducted by the employees. Beside the impact on image, the company has incurred significant losses. Other legislation which can impact its strategy is the restrictions on mergers and acquisitions. (XXXXX)Meso EnvironmentXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXCompetitive rivalryThe competition is very intense. Generally the main competitive factors in the airline industry are factors such as, customer services, safety record and reputation, price, routes services, in-flight entertainment systems and frequent flyer programs, flight schedules, capa city, types of aircraft, code-sharing relationship and so on. (datamonitor)Short haul market BA has a lot of competitors, mainly Easy jet and Ryanair, and on this type of flights is more difficult to have differentiation. Product and service are slowly replicated and it is difficult to achieve consumer loyalty, On the other hand. Long haul market with the OpenSkies changed the competitive landscape. Five new companies have slots in Heathrow to fly to U.S. (XXXXXXXXXX)New EntrantsIn the airline industry new entrants are low because there are significant barriers to enter. It requires high capital investment, there are also high regulatory requirements, it is a high competitive environment, it offers low profit margins, it takes more time to have the return on investment, and Slot spaces are expansive and the barriers to exit are high. (XXXXXXXXX)SubstituteOn short Haul routes, airlines companies have a great competition with on the ground. Train operations in UK are taking a bigger share of the air, principal because the infrastructure has suffer improvements and minimize journey times in lines such as West Coast mainline. Although Eurostar is disrupt by snow and freezing weather in January, the company still in increase around 1.2% more passenger in 2009, at the same time demand for flight between London to Brussels and Paris fell b y 14%. (Annual Report BA, 2009).Power of BuyerBritish Airways through a strategic sourcing process produce services and goods, using benchmarking to make sure that they will achieve maximum value, for both parts such as suppliers and purchase. During the 2009 year , the company reviewed all its spending with 500 top suppliers who account around 94% of total annual external spend, in order to this, British Airways re-structure all its commercial deals and the result was a considerable saving over this period.Power of SuppliersSuppliers have high bargaining power, there are basically to suppliers of airplanes Boeing and Airbus. And they are restricted by sole supplier of fuel in the airports. (XXXXX)Micro Environment AnalysisXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXStrengthsBritish airways has some important resources and capabilities such as a fleet of about 250 airplanes and more than 300 routes It has an international customer database It has financial resources, harmonize to datamonitor 2009 report, the company has increased its revenues since 2005 and in 2008 the company had 10% of operating profit margin. The company has slots in the main airports The company has created two subsidiaries OpenSkies and BA city Flyer It has also established some important alliances ( matchlessWorld alliances) and it has franchised some routes. These resources and capabilities are worth(predicate) and can help the company to react against some threats and capitalize on opportunities. However they cannot be rare and inimitable depending on the competitors available resources. On the other hand, British Airways have some laughable re sources and core competencies which are more difficult to imitate, are more rare and represent an important value for the company. British Airways is the only company with access to terminal 5 in London Heathrow Airport, one of the main airports in the world. BA has also a reputable blade image recognized globally and reinforced by its long-standing existence within the industry. Through its subsidiary OpenSkies has offered a 32-seat all premium service from London City Airport to New York (Annual report).British airways has a constantly increase in its revenue since FY2005 to FY2008 (HERE I NEED TO SHOW WITH GRAFICS, WHY THIS LAST YEAR THE caller-up DECREASE?).British Airways has focus on operational services such a punctuality and costumer services, important factor to achieve this aim is Terminal 5 at Heathrow. It is allowing British airways to provide customer with a completely level of services in a highly efficient way. Furthermore, an important strategic for the company is investments in its fleet, and 100 million is using to develop and modernise its first cabin and the customer feedbacks is brilliant. Costumer likes its idea because it is what costumer is looking for, more comfortable beds, space, privacy and everything is British style. (annual report BA, 2009)British airways has a excellent fleet base operation and has its robust route network. The company is operating with 245 aircraft in service. (HERE A NEEDS TO SHOE WICH AIRCRAFTS AND COMPERER WITH COMPETITOR). Although, diversity fleet operation help the company to achieve their advantages over their competitor and to be effective utilization of its plus base.In addition the British airways have just order two airbus A138 and six Embraer E190SR and five E170 aircraft to replace RJ85 and RJ100 Aircraft. Which are currently operated from City airport.Furthermore, the British airways has carries more than 33 million passenger per year. (HERE I NEED THE INFORMATION HOW MANY PEEOPLE PER YEAR)BA f ocuses on offering online services to preserve old customers and to attract new customer. The e-services were important factors that helped British airways to reduce costs and increase revenues. Furthermore, the e-services helps costumer to book hotels, cars all through the website. Third of all companies booking was sold by ba.com. in order to do this, British airways introduce a new tool that is capable to upgrade their booking at any time between buy a ticket and checking on-line. Other facility it is access in real time the arrival and departures information through their mobile, which is useful tools for business people. (Datamonitor, 2009)WeaknessBritish airways has a high debt obligation in FY 2009, the amount is around 2,382 million, an increase of 1,072 million in comparison to FY 2008. The increase in net debt included 554 million due to the retranslation of foreign debt. High debt make more difficult for a company to pay its principal and interest with respect to its obl igations. In addition, can reduce the British Airways ability to use cash flow to fund working capital and other general corporate requirements. Furthermore, high British Airways debts difficult to training and reaching to change in business and industry. (datamonitos, 2009)British airways is one of the biggest airline company in the world but 62.5% of the revenue came from European Market (data monitor, 2009). And it is not good business depends too much of a specific market. Because if the continent has an economic problem the company for sure going to be serious problem.Appendix 5 GDP NominalAccording to Nominal GDP, 30% of the world nominal GDP came from Europe. So it is a good strategic from BA focus on this market. But there are some problem mentions above.Appendix 6 kljAccording to PPP GDP, British airways should be focus on other countries to try to improve their revenues. In some countries such as China, Japan, India, Brazil and so on, there is a great chance to increase the revenues. On the other hand, The European population has a high number of retender people that increase the probability of this people to travel (long haul flight) to enjoy their live. (here i need to aim the reference. Again,, heheh)OpportunitiesBritish airways to try to improve its revenues were focus on business agreement with other airlines companies. British airways, American Airlines and Iberia have signed a critical point business agreement in 2008 on flight between North America and Europe and part of the plan it is expand their global cooperation. This relationship was created to benefits customer to increase flight schedule and more fly option to travel to whore world. (annual reports BA, 1009)OneWorld Global Alliance it is another (HERE I NEED TO EXPLAN WHAT IS ONEOWRDL)Another opportunity to business is the Open Skies between EU and US, because British airways can significantly increase its number of destination choices that the airlines can offer for the customers . Although, Airlines are applying for EU-US anti-Trust Immunity, where London Heathrow is open to any US or EU Airline that wants to fly to US and where the rival alliance have immunity. In order to this, the airlines companies also can expand customer choice by supporting more routes that it is not be economically viable for the airlines companies. This strategic can increase the opportunity to British Airways to provide a better services for its customer and improve its business as well. (datamonitor, 2009).ThreatsThe global recession has a high impact over on Airline industry, according to GDP growth rate has a declined from 5.1% in 2007 to 3.1% in 2008. Due the crises many Airline companies had financial loss and the principal affect class were the premium passenger because companies decided to cut business travel to save money, a recent survey suggest that 47% of business travel will take fewer travel in the year ahead. So, Global economic is affecting British airways where the company focus main on business travel. (datamonitor, 2009)Over the in vogue(p) years the Airline industry has been affected by global recession and drop in air travel and the airline companies strategies are merger and joint venture, recent examples such as Delta and Northwest Airlines in October 2008, between America West Airlines and US Airways in September 2005, American Airlines acquired majority of Trans World Airlines assets in 2001. In Europe market some consolidation is happens too, such as Vueling and Clickair in Spain, Alitalia and Air one in Italy, Lufthansa acquired Brussels Airlines and British Airline BMI and Austrian Airlines. Other merger or joint venture with domestic and international market can affect directly British airways revenues. (datamonitor, 2009)EU-US Open Skies Agreement has had a high impact on Long Haul Flight, during the first phase of the Open Skies at Heathrow, the competition has change on transatlantic routes, US Carriers Delta, Continental and US Airways have commended new flights to Heathrow offered more than 100 services per week. Other important markets are being liberalised is Canada, and others countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Brazil are going to be the next to suffer the Open Skies. (annual Report BA, 2009).Strategic AnalysisBritish Airways main strategic is become the worlds leading global premium airline. And to achieve goals its focus on make the cost base more efficient but devising customer service an important part of this long-run vision. These are import factor to create a sustainable and profitable future for business, benefiting our customer, colleagues and shareholders. (annual report BA, 2009)Global, offer destiny a across the world making individuals and business travellers want to choose British airways to travel for wherever their wants. Differences in Chinese and Japanese Art :: Essays Papers

Differences in Chinese and Japanese ArtArchitectureIn China, very few pieces of architecture are still intact. Most of the influential architecture left is the Forbidden City. One main idea in Chinese architecture is walled cities, like Beijing and Changan. These cities are rectangular in shape and have streets that run north, south, east, and west like a grid pattern. The Chinese architecture concentrates on the balance and symmetries. The palace in the center of the city is base on the idea of the harmony of the universe and its cosmic order. In Japan, the architecture is based on grand palaces. Huge palaces were built and protected with many weapons and fortified for strength. Narrow passageways and mazes of stairs are common in the castles. The sense of power in the country is obvious in the location of the buildings. The buildings in Japan are always asymmetrical, opposite of China. Paintings and ArtIn China, most of the artists worked not for money merely for themselves, so their characterizations and art were forms of individual expression. They tried to express themselves with symbols and individualised terms. The most common types of paintings were literati paintings which were characterized by unassuming brushwork, subtle colors, and the use of landscape as personal meaning. Literati painters painted for each other and used canvases like handscrolls, hanging scrolls and album leaves. Many of the paintings expressed the painters personality. One Chinese painter, Ni Zan, has a famous painting called The Rongxi Studio. It is done in ink and has mountains, rocks, trees and a building. The painting has little detail and is painted with the dry brush technique, like Zans personality, a noble spirit. In Japan, the paintings and art concentrated on a love of nature, a sense of humor and asymmetry. Ink painting was popular and used the canvas as theatrical role of the picture. One student in Japan, Bunsei, painted a picture called Landscape. It i s on a hanging scroll.

Sweatshops Essay example -- essays research papers fc

Written over 50 years ago, was a declaration made, promising equality and fair give-and-take for the working, which unfortunately turned out to be a false promise for some. The people I speak of, are our fellow human beings working in slave-like conditions called sweatshops. Sweatshops have always been prevalent in society, this can be shown by looking at the history of sweatshops. Presently organizations are failing in there strive to end sweatshops, companies are failing to abide by the moral code (apparel industry code), there is an ever growing gap between gamy and poor, and consumers are continuing to buy the companies products and remain unaware.Sweatshop is a term for makeshift factories where poverty-stricken people- mostly women and children- work at top speed for 12 or more hours a day in an effort to earn a living wage (library). Often called the sweating system, which began when the factory system developed in the early 1800s. Factories were not always large enough t o house all the workers, instead the owners would sublet contracts for part of the work. Then the other subcontractors set up makeshift factories in dimly lighted, poorly ventilated buildings. They hired workers for low wages and long hours on a work when needed basis. Americans began to object to this almost correct away, as early as the 1830s. In 1880, large numbers of immigrants began to come to America, and the problem became serious. The owners of sweatshops took advantage of the immigrants ignorance and poverty to get them to work for low wages. During the 1900s, many states began to dig laws prohibiting products from being manufactured under sweatshop conditions. A fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Company in 1911, in which 146 women died, urged many states to pass anti-sweatshop laws. States then began transit laws on wages, hours, child labor, making it impractical for factories to sublet work. Sweatshops became illegal in most countries. But not all, such as Asia and Afri ca, the less developed countries . in that respect are many organizations out there trying to put a stop to sweatshops. Organizations such as MOJO, co-op America, HRWF (Human Rights For Workers), Feminists against sweatshops, UNITE, No Sweat, USAS. This is only a little fraction of the organizations trying to put a stop to sweatshops. MOJO, co-op America and ... ...If you are serious enough about this, start your own organization. When one considers the shabbiness the sweatshop worker deals with at the hands of corporate America, one can only wonder how such actions are allowed. Where is the Declaration of Human Rights? This document declares rights to all humans, just now somehow sweatshop workers are overlooked? They are human beings too. Something must be done to end this parade of abuse. Take some action, next time you hold The Gap, walk right by it, every little bit helps.BibliographyLibrary - From the World Book, Multimedia Encyclopedia, Inc., 525 W.
